How could she be so knowledgeable and yet so naïve? So beautiful, yet so beyond the law? Not a peer, yet deserving of the respect he learned from experience? In the dim light, she made him think of the sirens from his classics studies at Oxford. They were beautiful women who sang so sweetly that sailors would jump from their ships just to reach them and drown. Would she lead him to his doom?

This teaser is from A Pocket in Time by Lexi Post. This is the second book in the Time Weavers Inc. series, but I was told they were stand alone and I haven't read the first one yet, but I can tell it would have been better if I had.

Each day she spends in the past is another day closer to her deadline, another day closer to returning to her own time, and another day John and this makeshift family get dangerously closer to her heart. But Katz staying in the past would have dire consequences for them all…
