[Meme] Teaser Tuesday - Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along!

Just do the following:

1. Grab your current read.
2. Open to a random page.
3. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
4. Share the title and author too so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!
"But that's the thing. I couldn't let go. I couldn't lose her. It was like I was in love with her, even though I didn't know her. Kind of like love before first sight."

This teaser is from Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It is the first book in the Caster Chronicles. There are currently four books in the series. I'm going to be completely honest here...I have no idea what took me so long to pick up this book! I am only about 100 pages in and it's AMAZING! Is it sad to admit it was the trailer for the upcoming movie version that finally made me pick these books up at the recent Chapters sale? Check out the trailer for yourself (if you haven't already seen it) and you tell me!

There were no surprises in Gatlin County. We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.
At least, that's what I thought.Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave.

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.
Share your teaser with me!

  1. I agree... I don't know how I missed this series until recently. (I found my copy of Beautiful Creatures at a 1/2 off book sale last summer.) Anyway, it really is a fun read, isn't it? I also love that there's a male POV. That seems relatively rare in paranormal YA for some reason.
