TBR Intervention Week #2

The TBR (To Be Read) Intervention Challenge is a weekly challenge hosted by Books4JulietWhatever You Can Sill Betray and Refracted Light.

The following information is posted on Refracted Light's blog:

The goal of this challenge is to help each other (fellow readers and bloggers) manage our enormous and constantly growing TBR (To-Be-Read) List. The rules are simple and everyone is encouraged to participate. It does not force you to commit to more than what you can manage to read in a week or so, but participants are encouraged to read at least one book within a week. You are free to choose the book you want to read and commit to this challenge. You may post your entry every Saturday, at the frequency of your choice–EVERY WEEK or EVERY TWO WEEKS. However, we will sponsor this event regularly every Saturday.

Here are the rules:

1. Post the book(s) you committed to read in your last TBR Intervention post and tell us something about it. Did you finish it? Did you enjoy it or not? Post the link to your review (if you have one).

2. Post a book that you want to read and already own. Pick something that has been sitting on your shelf for too long now (6 months or longer). Commit to read the book in the next couple of days or week.

3. Grab the TBR Intervention Button and post it on your blog sidebar so you will be constantly reminded of the challenge, making it easier for you to commit. This will also encourage other readers/bloggers/visitors to join the challenge.

4. Add the link to your post in the Linky below and make sure to visit the other blogs. Comment, encourage, and spread the love to our fellow readers.

Last Week's TBR:

As promised, I read, and finished, The Death Cure by James Dashner. It was a great book, and it tied the series off very nicely. I recommend it to everyone. Full review to follow soon.

I did not however get around to starting Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel. Since I already had a Random House Canada book read to be reviewed I decided to spread the love around and will hold off on Dearly, Departed until later.

This Week's TBR:

For this week I will be reading The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa. This was one of the first NetGalley request I was approved for by a major publisher (HarlequinTeen) and I was so excited when I received it. Unfortunately it came as a .pdf file which made it too small to read on my iPhone as .pdf files can not be adjusted like .epub files. I felt so horrible that as soon as I saw it available in Chapters I immediately purchased it to read and review.

Once I finish The Iron Knight I will either move on to Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel, or I also have Touch by Jus Accardo and Cinder and Ella by Melissa Lemon due for review soon.

Any suggestions for which one(s) to read?

Edit:  It seems the publisher has archived Cinder and Ella, so I won't be reading that one after all!

These books are my goals or this week's TBR Intervention Challenge.

What are yours?

  1. I'm so glad you enjoyed The Death Cure ((big smile here)). I love love love the series and I missed the characters already. I am jealous of Iron Knight! I only read Iron King and really liked it. I need to read Iron Daughter and Iron Queen plus the two novellas, but I'm not sure when. I also heard from a friend that TOUCH is an amazing book. Maybe you can try it =) I hope you'll enjoy it too! I'm looking forward to your views about the book.

    Have a lovely week!

    XOXO, april

  2. The PDF of The Iron Knight was almost too small for me to read on my Nook. Nightmare...literally. I hope you love it as much as I did.

  3. April - I did enjoy the series very much, not sure what took me so long to read them. If it wasn't for my son I might never have gotten around to them. As for the Iron Fey series, I most likely never would have read them either if I had not been approved for Iron Knight.

Kristin - It was way too small for me to read, this is why I ended up picking up the book. From now on I most likely will turn down any pdf ebooks because they are just too hard on the eyes.

  4. Hmm...so I really need to start The Maze Runner! I'm sure it'll show up here on TBRIC at some point. :)

I hope you enjoy The Iron Knight! That's another series I need to start. Oh and I also read on my iPhone, and with PDF files, though they are far from my favorite, I use the Bluefire Reader app to read them. If you turn your phone sideways, lock it horizontally and just page down (touch the bottom instead of the side) then it's a relatively readable size...LOL. So just an FYI for those pesky PDF galleys.

And, I vote for Dearly, Departed since that's also my TBRIC book for this week.

Hope you have a super creepy Halloween! ;)

  5. Dani - Thanks for the hint with pdfs and Bluefire. I will have to try that. I am kind of hoping pdfs will look better on my Vox when I get it as well.

Hmmm one vote Touch one vote Dearly...what ever shall I do?
